Remote Gambling Law to be in effect by 1st of November

Online Gaming enthusiast surely have heard about some changes that might affect their favourite virtual venues where they can play money games. The framework for the so called Gambling Licensing & Advertising Act has been finalised and will be, after months of negotiations between the gaming industry and representative Gambling Commissions of the British Channel Islands and Gibraltar , in effect by November the 1st, 2014.

Remote Gambling Law to be in effect by 1st of November

The law was supposed to be passed earlier this year, but some changes within the framework of the proposal had been challenged by the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA). This organisation is one of a few that represents online gaming venues who are registered and licensed in Gibraltar and which offer remote or virtual online casino and sports betting services to customers in the UK.

So, what are the changes and are players of sites like Winnings.com affected by them at all? The answer is no. Under the new regulation, online gambling and casino sites that wish to advertise or provide virtual gambling and sports betting services to customers in the UK are required to apply and obtain for a new license from their respective Online Gaming Commission. Winnings.com’s operator, NeoGames Communications Limited, who is registered by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta, already fulfils the requirements and strict standards.

One would have thought that in the first place the industry, the already regulated online gaming and casino operators would have agreed upon the new framework back a few months ago; apparently that didn’t happen. The first draft of the law was supposed to be enacted in June, than later postponed to October and finally to the new date, the 1st of November 2014.

Again, those changes don’t affect the players of Winnings.com themselves, who know that there’s not better and safer place to enjoy countless hours of playing their favourite online casino and instant-win games to win money.

Some changes of the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP) already took place in August, others however are still pending, e.g. those important changes that affects the whole gambling software licensing regime. Despite efforts to agree on some changes back in April, the Gaming Commissions and online casino and gambling providers, represented by the GBGA, couldn’t agree on how the suppliers of the gaming software itself, e.g. providers of online casino platforms and games such as NeoGames for Winnings.com, would be hold responsible.

The new requirements for money games software licensing were supposed to be implanted and enacted by the end of January 2015, but somehow the Gambling Commissions just confirmed the date is set to the end of March 2015.

However, yet another piece of legislation regarding remote gambling regulation and licensing is going to be imposed – A general 15% rate by gambling operators on remote betting, according to the Finance Act. The implementation of the new law and the future changes at the online gaming industry won’t effect members and players of online casino and instant-win games websites. One thing is for sure; players at Winnings still can play all their favourites and win money, guaranteed.
